The Stage Management specialization trains qualified students for careers as creative managers in a variety of professional performance environments.
With an emphasis on artistic collaboration and creative leadership, students develop individual management styles while working in close partnership with their colleagues in the other Performance and Experience Design and Production métiers. The School of Theater’s emphasis on the development of new voices and new forms gives stage managers the opportunity to reinvent themselves and their approach to each project as they enter and transform the field.
Each semester, students work as stage managers and assistant stage managers on projects and workshops presented by the School of Theater and the CalArts Center for New Performance (CNP).
