Emily Mast

Emily Mast

Emily Mast’s work pulls from a combination of practices – visual art, theater, and dance – and is anchored in the production of multi-compositional projects that employ performance, installation, and curation. Since 2020 she has been developing a methodology that employs hypnosis, tantra, Dom/sub dynamics, emotional attunement, physical movement, free writing, and theatrical techniques to invent group practices that engage the subconscious and mine it as a tool for creation and transformation.

She has staged “choreographed exhibitions” and presented live performances at M Museum, Leuven, Belgium (2023); Betonsalon, Paris (2023); Villa Medici, Rome (2022); JOAN, LA (2022); Picasso Museum, Barcelona, Spain (2019); Theatre des Champs Elysées, Paris (2019); Los Angeles Dance Project (2019); LUMA Foundation, Arles, France (2018 & 2019); Human Resources, Los Angeles (2022 & 2018); FRAC Occitanie Montpellier, France (2017); Grazer Kunstverein, Graz, Austria (2017); Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin (2017); Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, Toronto (2016);  Ferme du Buisson, Noisiel (2015); Mona Bismarck American Center, Paris (2015); Silencio, Paris (2015); LACMA, LA (2014); Hammer Museum, LA (2014); Robert Rauschenberg Foundation Project Space, New York (2013); REDCAT, LA (2012 & 2016); and Performa, NY (2009).
