Devoted to a rapidly evolving field, the Sound Design Program integrates aesthetic concerns with scientific disciplines and new technological tools in performance.
The Program stretches as far as each student’s energy and imagination allows. With a curriculum rooted in classical theatrical training, sound designers explore and take part in a vast array of projects in experimental performance, multimedia and interactive design, concert sound, performance art, animation, as well as animated and live-action film/video.
Accordingly, students utilize all the learning resources, both artistic and technological, available across the entire CalArts community. Graduates emerge with the aesthetic and technical ability to adapt across all professional arenas of performance.
