Leon Rothenberg is a Tony award-winning Sound Designer who has designed sound and written music for a number of environments including theater, film, dance, Virtual Reality, immersive environments and the circus.
Recent designs on Broadway include A Doll's House Part 2 (Drama Desk Nomination), Violet, The Realistic Joneses and The Nance, for which he won the Tony Award for Best Sound Design of a Play. Other work includes sound design for the upcoming national tour of Dirty Dancing the Musical, The Encores: Off Center Summer Series at New York City Center and sound design for virtual reality games and experiences. He designed sound for Cirque du Soleil’s Kooza, currently touring the world, and Wintuk, Cirque’s winter holiday show in New York City. In addition to theater, other work includes sound score for dance, feature and documentary film, and animation.
Leon holds an M.F.A. from California Institute of the Arts, a B.M. in Music Composition from Oberlin Conservatory, and a B.A. in Computer Science from Oberlin College.
