Judith Teitelman

Judith Teitelman is committed to help grass roots and mid-sized organizations and large institutions strengthen their management and resource generating capacities and effectively plan for the future. Judith is also a mentor and professional advisor to artists working in all disciplines and has been Special Faculty at California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) co-teaching Entrepreneurship since 2017. She is a strong proponent of management initiatives designed to examine and challenge long-standing assumptions about nonprofit administration and is committed to helping organizations and artists rethink ‘business as usual.’

A skilled, innovative designer and facilitator of meetings, retreats, and focus groups, she regularly works with Boards of Directors and staff to institute positive, sustainable change within their organizations. Between 1994 and 1996 — the last three years of the program — Judith served as a Planning Consultant to the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Advancement Program: assisting organizations in a process of self-assessment, financial and statistical data review, and strategic long-range planning, and participating in the development of regional and national seminars and workshops. In 1998, she contributed to "Lessons Learned" Planning Toolsite/Website, a project of the NEA designed to capture the knowledge and resources exchanged through its Advancement Program and in 1999 wrote a Case Study analysis as part of the Toolsite's expansion. The Los Angeles County Arts Commission contracted Ms. Teitelman as a Technical Assistance Specialist for more than a decade, and she worked with the Flintridge Foundation's Nonprofit Leadership Program in a similar capacity during the program’s four-year history.

Judith Teitelman began her career in the nonprofit sector as part of the fundraising team that built the Los Angeles Theater Center, a four-theater multidisciplinary complex in the heart of the city’s downtown. Subsequent senior staff positions with Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions (LACE) and the Craft and Folk Art Museum (now known as the Craft Contemporary) further honed Ms. Teitelman’s skills, giving her the opportunity to spearhead both annual and capital fundraising campaigns and involving her in all aspects of nonprofit management. Her national consulting practice, established in 1990 and based in Los Angeles, provides a full range of services tailored to meet the unique vision and particular needs of each organization and artist.

In her parallel realm, Judith's award-winning debut novel, "Guesthouse for Ganesha," a magical realist tale of love, loss, and spirit reclaimed, was published May 2019 in paper, electronic, and audio formats.
