Finding Shelter shares the stories of several unaccompanied minors seeking refuge in the United States and how their real-life experiences were made into the 2016 internationally acclaimed play. It is narrated by one of the young women interviewed for the play - who is now going to college to be an engineer.

Running 30 minutes in length, the film features both Spanish and English subtitles, bringing viewers together across language barriers. The screening will be followed by a bi-lingual panel discussion with Dr. Susan J. Terrio (Whose Child Am I? Unaccompanied, Undocumented Children in US Immigration Custody), Steve Vigil of Homies Unidos, and deportation defense attorney Camila Alvarez of CARECEN, the largest Central American immigrant rights organization in the country.

The play Shelter received its 2016 world premiere in Lincoln Park in Los Angeles, and was subsequently presented at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. It was written and conceived by Marissa Chibas and directed by celebrated Mexico City-based director Martin Acosta.
